In 2008, Mine Detection Dog Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina conducted the training of 10 mine detection dogs that will be used in demining operations in Lebanon. The project of training the dogs donated to Lebanon Mine Action Center (LMAC) was implemented with the funds provided by the US State Department and the Marshall Legacy Institute. When it was evident that the mine detection dogs improved the demining process in Lebanon, MDDC conducted the training of another group of six mine detection dogs for LMAC in June 2010. Implementing this project, MDDC trained total of 19 mine detection dogs for Lebanon Mine Action Center, inluding the latest project of training implemented in March 2014. Due to their excellent training and well developed old-factory sense that enables them to reliably and precisely detect the location of buried mine, mine detection dog teams present the key component of demining program in Lebanon.
